Empowering possibility development organizations around the world.

The Global Possibility Network (GPN) focuses on possibility development for children and youth within the context of schools, families, and communities.

Possibility development is the pursuit and actualization of possibilities in one's life. Though applicable across the lifespan, it is the psychological core of adolescence and emerging adulthood. Mentoring and counseling to promote possibility development help individuals explore their values and interests, then formulate tangible goals, and with robust support, fulfill them.

The Global Possibility Network (GPN) is a partnership between University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE) Project for Mental Health and Optimal Development and international collaborators.

The GPN brings together possibility development stakeholders worldwide. It has two purposes: first, to serve as an association for networking and collaboration, and second, to act as a Penn GSE-based research to practice organization, or "action tank", committed to optimal development for youth. The GPN digital platform is an online space for tiered member communities to collaborate, and for Project for Mental Health and Optimal Development experts to provide targeted consulting.

Planning for Uncertainty: An Educator’s Guide to Navigating the COVID-19 Era

In light of the educational upheaval caused by COVID-19, a team of teachers, counselors, school leaders, psychologists, teacher educators, and university faculty created a guide that aims to build educators’ and schools’ capacity to navigate the unknown territory in which we all find ourselves.

This resource advocates for approaching educational challenges and the problem-solving they require through an Uncertainty Mindset. It guides educators through developing actionable strategies in the face of pervasive uncertainty, both independently and alongside colleagues.

Penn GSE’s Michael Nakkula and Andy Danilchick, directors of the Project for Mental Health and Optimal Development, discuss the guide and its potential value to educators in the wake of the pandemic in this CPRE Research Minutes podcast from the Consortium for Policy Research in Education (CPRE).
